Now, the difficult task of talking about myself...
Hermano Cintra is my name. I will be 40 years old next week. This month, my daughter completed 6 months. Last month, my son had his 6th birthday. I have been married for almost 9 years. Family is essential to who I am.
I am Brazilian. Also very important to who I am. The rich cultural inheritance of my country is an amazing lenses to look at the modern world. We are all about mixture, blending and appropriation.
Professionally, I have worked in the media and telecom industry for fifteen years. I have held executive positions in planning, business development and general management for various businesses, including two of the most important media conglomerates in Brazil: Globo, our largest broadcaster, and Abril, our largest publisher. Before catching the internet bug, I have spent long time on pay TV industry. Lately, have been involved with projects for corporate portals, virtual communities and knowledge strategies.
I hold a BA in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Communication and Semiotics. My dissertation, "Dimensões da Interatividade na Cultura Digital", dealt with the subject of digital interactivity. I have been studying and working with internet since 1996.
Personal interests are broad and diverse, but transformations caused by human occupation of cyberspace tend to capture most of my attention these days. I am planning to engage a PhD in the close future. Meanwhile, I continue to study what I define as the impacts of digital interactivity in enabling new formats of collective action.
